Biography

Scandroid Scandroid DRIVE Radio

Starting from July 24, 2013, Klayton, via his Celldweller social pages, and Nick Kaelar, via his Varien pages, had been posting quotes and links to the video titled "What is the Salvation Code?", which revealed a skull-like logo had been posted around July 17, hinting this upcoming project. Later, they posted a new link to the website SalvationCode.com, requiring a password that was found in hints from the previous videos, as well as a riddle from the band member Red that people received after submitting a "forgot password" form. After entering the password, of which was "2513", the next page contained a video that had an extended preview of the unreleased song that had been heard on the previous video. Both videos hinted that the date, August 6, 2013, would be the date that the full song titled "Salvation Code" would be released.

Also on the second video, several images were displayed; one of which was of Klayton on the left and Varien on the right, and another image being the official artwork of the upcoming single. The second video had later been uploaded on their YouTube Account on July 30, 2013 along with posts made by both members on their pages and on the Scandroid page. The post also stated that the Scandroid music will consist of elements of 1980's retro and electronic music with what they described as a "Neo-Tokyo" theme.

On August 6, 2013, as expected, the "Salvation Code" single was released to the public for free download, along with a release of new promotional merchandise. Both Klayton and Varien posted this release in order to promote their project.

On November 8, it was hinted by Celldweller and Varien that a new Scandroid track would be released soon. Then on December 7, Scandroid released an image, with a comment stating that "Hidden in this flyer lies a clue regarding the next transmission...". Then on the December 11, Scandroid posted the date "12.13.13" with quote "Get lost in the Datastream.". Then later on December 13, a new song titled "Datastream" was released, along with a riddle; "Alter the extension of a new beginning in order to READ what the others can only SEE.".

On August 2, 2014, three days before the release of the third Scandroid single, "Empty Streets", Kaelar tweeted that he was no longer a part of Scandroid and was focusing purely on Varien.

On October 3, 2016, it was announced on Facebook that the full, self-titled album would be released on November 11, 2016.

Musical style

The aim of this project was to create music that consisted of elements from 1980's retro and electronic music with what the duo have described as a "Neo-Tokyo" theme. DJZ called the duos first song "Salvation Code" a "...retro synth-pop tune that harkens back to past visions of a cyberpunk future." and that it was a sci-fi narrative song.
