Prof. Sasidharan P.K (Full name: Sasidharan Puthenpurakkal Kunhumon) is a medical practitioner and author from Kozhikode, India. He recently retired as the professor and head of the department of Internal Medicine at Calicut Medical College and the chairman of PG board of studies at KUHS University, Kerala. He is the former dean of medicine at University of Calicut. He is popular for authoring the book Heal-Thy India, a collection of observations regarding the healthcare system in India. He has authored many medical textbooks and research publications.

Education

Dr. Sasidharan graduated with a degree in medicine and surgery from Calicut Medical College as the best outgoing student in 1982. He did his MD in general medicine from PGIMER, Chandigarh. Being concerned about the health care situation in his home state, he returned to Calicut Medical College and started working as a doctor in the government sector.

Research and publications

Prof. Sasidharan has published several research papers, the most prominent among them being the studies on malnutrition and vitamin D. His study is the first of its kind which documents the deficiency of Vitamin D in India. He has authored two books on healthcare, Aarogyam janangalilekku (Healthcare for the masses) and Jeevitha sailium aarogya samrakshanavum (Lifestyle and healthcare) in Malayalam language.
