History
The construction of the hospital located in the Central Sector Street 4 was started in November 1, 1936 with the founding of Goiânia, with the support of the wife of the founder. In 1984 the area was sold to the government of Goiás and a new building was built in the Village American Brazil.
Growth
Until 1954 the Santa Casa was directed only by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. With the expansion of the Hospital, which had at that time more than 150 beds, President of the Conference, Bishop Abel Ribeiro Camel, he implemented a charter by which appointed a board to manage the hospital complex for two years. The first Clinical Director elected was Dr. Ademar Hall, who served between 1954 and 1955. At that time, the Bank has advanced in terms of technical development, physical and material. The installation of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) took place at that time and was considered a major breakthrough for the hospital. The creation of the Medical Center was also initiated in the period when the Santa Casa worked at Rua 4, Central Sector, with the participation of a small number of professionals. At that time, they began to define more specialized clinics, such as urology and cardiology. At this time the Holy House is no longer a municipal hospital, to become a regional hospital, serving the city of Goiania, the state of Goiás, neighboring states, and finally, to own Federal District.
Construction of the new Hospital
Held in mid-1980 a survey found that the inability to continue serving in the former headquarters, Central Sector, mainly because of the physical facilities that did not provide protection for patients, physicians and staff. At the end of management professor José Luciano da Fonseca as president of the Santa Casa in 1984, given the chronic lack of resources and poor condition of hospital facilities, the area where it was built was sold to the State Government. The new building, located in Vila American in Brazil, where it works to this day SCMG was built over a period of nine months in designed spaces and equipment considered at the time the most modern existing in the hospital area.
New Marco History
On October 31, 2003, the Goiás Society of Culture (SGC) is linked to the Holy House to achieve its institutional goals. This act was considered essential for the SCMG broaden their potential and were to be consolidated as a reference hospital in the Midwest, in the health care area as well as in teaching and research. In this context, it is understood that the optimization of the role played by SCMG, now in collegiate management with SGC is essential in improving the delivery of health care. The new integrated approach of the current collegial management project under the supervision of the Goiânia Municipal Health Department, incorporates elements of the effectiveness of care, resolution and respect for the user.
Educational partnership
Over seven decades, SCMG has become, in all respects, a referral hospital for the Midwest region, both in its structure and in its design to meet all the people who seek their services without any form of discrimination. The systematic development of research and production, especially in the medical field, accredited and legitimized the institution to be a Teaching Hospital. The Santa Casa develops important role in the training of health professionals with internship programs, residency and partnership with the nursing program at the Catholic University of Goiás - UCG.
