Sandra Cassel (born June 15, 1952) is an American actress. She acted in a number of low-budget soft-core and exploitation films between the early to mid 70's. Her most memorable role was in Wes Craven's 1972 horror film The Last House on the Left.

Sandra Cassel was born Sandra Peabody on June 15, 1952 in Providence, Rhode Island. She graduated from the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City where she studied acting under Sanford Meisner. Later, she attended Carnegie-Mellon University.

Career

Throughout the early 70's, Cassel starred in a few soft-core and exploitation films which were mainly low-budget. She starred in Wes Craven's brutal and controversial 1972 film The Last House on the Left, about two teenage girls, Mari Collingwood (played by Cassel) and Phyllis Stone (Lucy Grantham) who are kidnapped and brutally raped by a gang of psychotic convicts who recently escaped from prison. Another film that Cassel is known for is Teenage Hitch-hikers.

Personal life

After quitting acting, Cassel returned to college and complete her B.A. in Arts & Letters from Carnegie-Mellon University. As of 2012, she has worked as drama teacher as well as television writer and producer, and is an active instructor at the Northwest Children's Theater in Portland, Oregon, and the Lakewood Center for the Arts in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Cassel splits her time living in Portland and Los Angeles, California.
