Sandip Soparrkar (Dr. Sandip Soparrkar, born Oct 06, 1964 ) is an Indian Latin and ballroom dancer, a Bollywood choreographer, an actor and a columnist who holds a Doctorate (Phd) in World Mythology Folklore from USA. He is a highly awarded dancer and choreographer who is the pioneer of ‘India Dance Week', a dance platform that brings varied Indian and international dance forms together on one single platform. His initiative 'Dance for a Cause' works tirelessly to raise funds and bring awareness and consciousness to various social issues and problems that are prevalent in the society at large. He has been honoured with the prestigious title of 'Ballroom Dance Jewel' by World Book of Records, Indo British Intellectuals Forum and the British Government at the House of Common, London, United Kingdom.

He has been honoured with the National Achievement Award and two National Excellence Awards by the Government of India for his outstanding contribution in the field of Dance, choreography and social work. He been bestowed with the prestigious 'Visionary Award' for developing a dance program for the blind by the Government of United States of America and Lions Club. This name also appears in the list of '100 Most Influential Dancers in the World' by the famous Dance Magazine USA.

Sandip was honoured with a traditional Indian Sword as the symbol of Power, by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India when he was bestowed with the prestigious 'Shakti Samman' for his exceptional work in the field of dance and choreography . His unique initiative 'Dance for a Cause' which is a very popular dance event in India has been conferred with the 'National Excellence Award' 2017, making him not just a dancer-choreographer but even a Social Activist of great repute.

Her Royal Highness Queen of England Queen Elizabeth and His Royal Highness Prince of Wales Prince Charles, have written personal letters of appreciation to Sandip Soparrkar for promoting Ballroom and Latin dance culture in India. He was the first Indian to be invited to judge the Asian Latin & Ballroom Dance Championship held at Colombo where 32 countries took part with 78 competitive dances.

Newspapers and Magazines all over the world publish his interesting and creative writing work too. His columns 'Voxtrot' in the prestigious The London Age and The Asian Age Newspaper and 'Artscape' in the Afternoon Voice Newspaper are very popular in the dance world.

Early life and training
Sandip was born in Bhopal, second of the two children to Col Ajay Kumar and Rani Soparkar. His Grand Father Dr. K.M Soparkar was the first Gynaecologist in the Indian Army and his Great Grandfather Dr. M.B Soparkar had the honour of being the personal Doctor of Mahatma Gandhi, Vallabhbhai Patel and Morarji Desai.
He started his career as a hotel management graduate. He completed his specialisation in world cuisine and started working as a cook. At the same time, he started learning Latin and Ballroom dances. When he choreographed for the award winning film Zubeidaa in 2001, he decided to take up dancing as his career option. In 2007, he was unmarried and yet adopted a child named Arjun.
His Father Col Ajay Kumar Soparkar is in the Indian Army and mother Rani Soparkar is a Teacher. He Travelled all over the world while he studied dance to gain more knowledge about the authenticity of various dance forms. He holds a Masters degree in Business Management from the prestigious Symbiosis Institute and also a Doctorate degree in World Mythology folklore from the famous Pacifica Graduate Institute, California, making him one of the most highly qualified and educated Ballroom dancers in the world.
He married Indian super model and actress Jesse Randhawa in 2009 but their marriage did not last long and they separated in 2016
Career
In 2014, he along with his wife Jesse Randhawa represented India at the Cannes Film Festival in France. The duo also performed at the International Marathi Film Festival Award (IMFFA) held in Hong Kong. As 'The Indian Ambassador of Dance' Sandip also represented India's Dance Community at many more International Film Festivals like the Madrid International Film Festival, St Tropez International Film Festival, Berlin International Film Festival, Nice International Film Festival, Global Film Festival, World Film Festival
Also, he started with the "India Dance Week" which provides a platform that brings all kinds of dance forms. The second edition of India Dance Week was held in Mumbai in April 2015. Bollywood Actors Raveena Tandon and Tiger Shroff attended as the chief guests in the event. the third edition of India dance week saw the king of Bollywood Dance Govinda as the Chief Guest and the fourth edition had legendary dancing Queen Helen make an appearance
He is the Cause Ambassador for Adoption in India by Catalyst of Social Action (CSA) and also the Brand Ambassador for Rubix Cube Sport of India. He is also the face of the renowned United States of America based NGO 'Miracle Foundation' which helps various needy orphanages in India. He is not just a renowned dancer but has passion for singing and this passion made him the Brand Ambassador for Karaoke World Championship India
As a dancer and choreographer par excellence Sandip has graced the cover of many Indian and International Magazines such as India Today, Femina, Citadel, Brunch, World Luxury, Sun (London), Luxurious Life (USA), Alta Moda (France), Truly Asia (Nepal), ArtScape (India’s first dance magazine), Graphiti, Good Homes and Living, Ferns, Fins and Feathers, Vibrant Events, Aaj Ki Delhi, Re Vista, Debut Life, Alta Moda (India), Style (USA), Swag (USA) along with many more. His flamboyant nature has had him date many gorgeous Hollywood and Bollywood Actresses, its believed that he was dating the Pop Singer Britney Spears , Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty , Indian Super Model Jesse Randhawa, actress Sharbani Mukherjee and the list is endless. His personal life came into international spotlight when a renowned German Daily reported that he has a son out of wedlock with his German girlfriend, who wishes to fight a legal battle against him, as she is not able to take care of the baby and the legal custody should go to Sandip.
In 2008 when American singer Madonna took dance lessons from him and later showed her interest to adopt an Indian baby all eyes turned to Sandip as he was the Brand Ambassador for Adoptions in India. It is believed that he inspired Madonna to adopt from India as he was the first single man in India to adopt.
He again made international media go into a frenzy when he did not perform at most talked about Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton at The Buckingham Palace in 2009. . Later when he refused to disclose his dance performance details for the wedding of Singer Katy Perry and Russell Brands in India, media went on to speak many positive and negative things about him and his invitation. . When soccer player Diego Maradona visited India in 2009 there was again international media hype about the legendary footballer taking a dance lesson from Sandip. .
