Samuel Russell (Yale co-founder)

Samuel Russell (November 4, 1660 – June 24, 1731) was one of the founders of Yale University. He was born in Hadley, Massachusetts, graduated from Harvard College class of 1681 and was ordained in 1687. He settled in Deerfield, Massachusetts and moved to Branford, Connecticut where he officiated and died. The founders of Yale University met in his study in Branford to contribute their books to the founding of the University. He was the second son of Rev. John Russell of Hadley, Massachusetts.
