Dr. Samuel O Owokoniran Samuel (born June 24, 1974) is a Nigerian Christian preacher and author, and is currently the Pastor-In-Charge of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (Our God Reigns Assembly Area, under the FCT Province Abuja Nigeria). Owokoniran is currently the Team Leader of Public Sector Group 2, and the Head of the Federal Public Sector Collection North in Mainstreet Bank Limited Abuja Nigeria.

Early life and history

Dr. Samuel Owokoniran was born on 24 of June 1974 in Odan Itoro, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State Nigeria into a christian family of Mrs Florence Modupe & Mr Moses Adisa Owokoniran after a long time of waiting for the fruit of the womb as the first child in the family of Twelve (12).

With a humble background and great financial challenges driving by strong passion and determination to succeed in life,he attended state primary school Shasha and O.O.L.G school in Ibafo between 1980 to 1986 for his primary school education and later proceeded to comprehensive high school, Ibafo, ogun state for his secondary school education where he later became senior prefect as one of the school christian fellowship coordinator in 1992.

Dr. Samuel Olusegun Owokoniran gained admission into University of Ilorin, Kwara State Nigeria in 1994 to study Mathematics (Pure and Applied) but by divine rearrangement he was later re-admitted in the same University to study Statistics. He gave his life to Christ in December the same year during the welcome service and induction programme organized for new students by the Christ Apostolic Church Students Association (CACSA) under the then National President Professor Bisi Ogunsina. He later became the Compound Pastor of the Association for four years of his time at the University.

His resolute and euthutiasim for sole winning despite great perciuation for christians fellowship from the schoolauthority moved him and his prayer partner Bro Dele Ajala to form the Unilorin Tracts Club in 1996. The club focused on printing and freely distributing of tracts and Christians materials for sole winning from their small stipends in 1996. He graduated in 1999 with a degree in Statistics and later served his one-year mandatory time in the National Youth Service Scheme with 3 Armoured Division Military Cantonment Rukuba, Jos in Plateau State, where he held the role of Medical Record Officer and Biostatistician for the military hospital.

During his NYSC Programme, he worked as Assistant Coordinator of the Deeper Life Bible Church in Angwan Rimi, a relatively rural community in the suburb of Rukuba Village where outreach programmes were held for rural dwellers for sole winning, free distributions of relief materials and free medical programmes on quarterly basis. He also collaborated with the Nigerian Corpers Fellowship on Rural Rugged Evangelism and Welfare Outreach for the residents of Zaranda Village in Bauchi State.

After working with different denominations across the country as a choirmaster, evangelist and teacher, he joined The Redeemed Christian Church of God in 2004, where he rose through the rank and file by the grace of God to become pastor in charged of the Area in the Mission today.

Education and career

Dr. Samuel Olusegun Owokoniran was awarded a PhD in Theology from The Redeemed Christian Bible College in 2008, and a master's degree in Business Administration in 2014 from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.

After a brief engagement as the Chief Consultant of Microbits Consulting Limited, based in Abuja, Owokonian took on his current role in the public service. He is also a former the Head of the Collections Group of United Bank for Africa Plc Nigeria North. In his positions, he has advocated for the use of electronic service platforms and an automated revenue generation system in Nigeria.

He is also a writer, speaker, and Member of Nigerian Institute of Management and a Fellow Institute of Finance and Control of Nigeria.

Christian Ministry

Owokoniran is currently a Pastor-In-Charge of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. In May 2014, the Board and the Senate of Community Bible Institute & Seminary of Brooklyn, New York awarded him a Doctorate Degree in Divinity for his contributions to Christianity, the Nigerian economy, and human well-being.

Family life

He married Deaconess Ijeoma Peculiar Owokoniran, in Abuja in 2004. They have three children: Praise Abiola Owokoniran, Precious Adeola Owokoniran, and David Damilola Owokoniran.
