He is the son of an Anglican priest and a mother of five. His mother enrolled him at Escola Nacional de Música far from thinking he would ever choose music for a career. After several years working as a musician in Maputo and Cape Town, Samito moved to Montreal to pursue studies and a career in music. Here he had the opportunity to work with Nom de Plume, Renji Condoré, Kweku, The New Groove Orchestra, Emma & The Noise, among others.

In 2015, along with artist Alexandre Arthur Bilodeau (aka Nom de Plume), he co-produced Tae Kwon Fu, a seven—song record of one—take workout sessions held in late 2013 by Allfire and Nom de Plume.
