He has performed in Theater and film but is best known for his work in television and his lead role in Bab al-Hara. Samer al-Masry has also starred in Al Dabour, Abu Janti, and Beit Jidi as Abu Hijaz.

His latest television role as the hilarious abu janti the king of taxi (ابو جانتي ملك التكسي (2, which was aired in the holy month of Ramadan (2010), was one of the most popular acts during that month, in which he also showcase his singing talent, and his comic personality. Has also played a role as a strongman in a Hara, in the world known TV series "Bab al Hara."

Al-Masry has 2 sons and a daughter (Omar, Ward and Yasmine). His oldest son Omar (16 years) has participated in many TV series since the age of 5. He first took part in the Palestinian TV series Yehya Ayash as the leading character at a young age. Omar then participated in the famous Syrian TV series Bab Al-Hara as Dibou for the first three seasons. He also participated in many other TV shows (Al Dabour 1 and 2, JCC Ana Wa Ekhwaty, Fajr Akhar). His last TV appearance was on the second season of Samer Al Masry's TV series (Abu Janti 2) in Dubai as a guest in one of the episodes.

After Abu Janti 2 in 2012, Samer Al Masri moved to Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. However, due to the terrible situation in Syria that started in 2011, Al-Masry took a break from TV, and focused on his family. In 2014, Samer Al-Masry took part in the new movie From A to B alongside Egyptian actor Khaled Abol Naga and Yosra El Lozy. In ramadan 2015, Bab Al Hara returned with an 8th season, promoting that Al-Masry is back on set. However, he appeared in an interview on Ya Hala Ramadan on Rotana Khalijia TV, stating that he did not return to the show due to a disagreement with the director and producers. He also promised his fans on live TV that he will be returning to the screen as soon as possible.
