Samarah is an electronic artist who is known for her glitchy IDM beats, whispering vocals and elegant arrangements of dreamy moods, textural bleeps and intricate atmospherics. Her live performances and recordings are an invitation into Samarah’s futuristic and idyllic micro world of unconventional sonic beauty.

Early years
Samarah began playing piano at the age of seven and experimented with various orchestral instruments and choir during her childhood. She began composing her own songs at thirteen and played her first gig at fifteen in a local bar in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. She began producing electronic music best described as IDM, experimental or Dream Pop in the late 90's after becoming involved the midwest rave scene.
Music career
Sarah Krug, better known for her stage name Samarah, is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and electronic music producer. Raised in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Krug joined a grunge rock band in high school as a lead singer, keyboardist and songwriter before moving to Madison, Wisconsin in 2000. She began promoting electronic music events and released her first ep So Lovely in 2003. The title track was picked up by Minneapolis Limited Records for 2004 release The MPLS Ltd. Traveling Companion, a compilation of various electronic music artists. In 2004, Krug followed up with a self-released down tempo ep, What is Beautiful, and These Things, ep in 2005. These Things was released by netlabels Nishi on Notype, Electronical and her own label, Belladonna Records.
Later that year, Krug co-released her first full-length album Falling Away with Zod Records, joining artists Emotional Joystick and Venetian Snares on the roster. Igloo Magazine reviewed: "I don't know many women in electronics, my only memories being the mighty Andrea Parker, Leila and Mira Calix. And to be sincere, I can't remember what the latest releases by Leila are, but I do remember how disappointing the last Mira Calix album...This Samarah record dropped out of nowhere apparently, I've never heard of her and thus it's a great surprise to find such a fresh and classic work." The album went on to win the Electronic Album of the Year at the 2006Madison Area Music Awards.
In 2007, Krug announced online that she would be taking a break from producing to focus on art and graphic design projects. In 2011, she uploaded her first new song, "Love Disappear", in over five years to her website and is currently working on a new ep and midwest tour planned for 2014.
Throughout the years she has played throughout the Midwest alongside artists Andreas Tilliander, Cepia, Pressboard, Tiki Obmar, The Flashbulb, Landau and many others. She is widely considered to be the foremost female electronic producer in Wisconsin.
