Early life, career

Samantha Sackler was born in the United States, and attended Arizona State University in the 1990s. She then moved to Los Angeles to pursue event planning. While she initially worked as a restaurant and nightclub publicist, Sackler began producing events full time in 1996.

After working since 1995 in private firms, in January 2002 Sackler was hired by Infinity Marketing Team (IMT), becoming Vice President. The company won a number of awards during her tenure, including an Emmy for the Dubai World Cup. IMT was also featured on NBC’s The Apprentice in 2010, with Sackler appearing in the season finale with Donald Trump.

History

In 1995 Sackler started the event planning firm Events in Motion, becoming CEO of both their LA and New York offices. Through the company she organized events for clients such as Speedo. In 2012 she changed the name to Samantha Sackler Productions (SSP), basing the company in Culver City, California. The company also produces internationally and operates an office in New York. Sackler launched SOCIAL with Tammy Morgan Ratner, a social event production division of SSP.

Since March 2005 she has been CEO of designer8* Event Furniture Rental, which she founded to "provide a wide variety of rental furniture pieces to the event world." It services most of California and several neighboring states, and frequently designs and manufactures customized furniture lines and pieces. As of 2014, the company has a 70,000-square-foot warehouse in downtown Los Angeles.

Clients

Through SSP Sackler has produced over 1,000 events such as movie premieres, weddings, and product launches, with clients including Access Hollywood, ESPN, BET, Nickelodeon, Disney, Intel, Interscope Records, InStyle, Playboy, and the Washington Post. On May 1, 2013 she produced the world premiere of Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby, turning the Plaza Hotel into a heavily themed version of Gatsby’s mansion. The party and its design were praised by both Martha Stewart and Luhrmann. According to a description in meetings, "midway through the party, during a choreographed Champagne parade, the room went from formal ballroom to speak-easy in three minutes, as lighting and backdrops were switched and linens removed to reveal bourbon barrels underneath. When the lights came up, the room was low-lit red."

She has also produced events for films such as Inception (2010), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011), X-Men: First Class (2011), Water for Elephants (2011), Red Tails (2012), Gangster Squad (2013), Argo, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, The Campaign, Gangster Squad, Epic, Turbo, The Wolverine, Prisoners, Gravity, Walking with Dinosaurs, Grudge Match, and A Winter’s Tale.
