Early life

Lavlu was born in Jugia village, near Kushtia town in the Kushtia District in the Khulna Division of western Bangladesh.

Early career

In 1977, Lavlu moved to Dhaka, to join the Aranyak Natyadal Theatre, where he acted in stage plays until 1985 but desired to do other things.

After Bangladesh Television (BTV) started its own production, he acted in several television dramas . In the early 1990s, he explored other options and began working as a photographer. In 1997, after working as a photographer for about six years, he found a new passion as a director.

Acting and directing

Lavlu made his television film directorial debut with Koutob, written by Masum Reza. Among the critically acclaimed television films he directed by 2004 are Dichakrojaan (1997), Gahargachi (1997), Ekjon Aynal Lashkar (1999), Adhuli (2002) and Gor (2002).

The communities in villages are strongly-woven together. They are simple and transparent people with very little demands and very small dreams. And they have deep concerns for people around them and they are extremely hospitable. The people in the city however are the complete opposite. They are very individualistic. They have no concern for people outside their immediate family and friends. Moreover, most of the people living in the city have deep roots in villages and when they watch my productions, they can relate to the life style and the characters.

Since 2004, Lavlu has directed and acted in many different telenovelas. Ronger Manush (2004) was his first telenovela directorial debut. Following its success, he pursued making more of them. Since then he has directed and acted in five telenovelas. Two of these include Vober Hat (2007) and Ghor Kutum (2008). Both of these telenovelas included the same stars, such as Mosharraf Karim and Chanchal Chowdhury (a favourite of Lavlu's, cast in most of his work).

Lavlu has also acted in and directed many television films including Goruchor (2007), Potro Milai (2007), Swapner Bilat (2007), Dholer Baddo (2008), Pattri Chai (2009) and Warren (2009).
