As per orders of the Delimitation Commission, No. 132 Sagar (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Sagar community development block, Frazerganj, Haripur, Mausini, Namkhana and Shibrampur gram panchayats of Namkhana community development block.

Sagar (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of No. 20. Mathurapur (Lok Sabha constituency) (SC).

2011

Bankim Hazra of Trinamool Congress won this seat defeating his nearest rival Milan Parua of CPI(M).

1977-2006

In the 2006 state assembly elections,Milan Parua of CPI(M) won the Sagar assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Bankim Chandra Hazra of Trinamool Congress. Bankim Chandra Hazra of Trinamool Congress defeated Prabahanjan Mondal of CPI(M) in 2001. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Prabhanjan Mondal of CPI(M) defeated Haripada Sen of Congress in 1996,Anil Baran Maitry of Congress in 1991,Byomkes Maity of Congress in 1987, Haripada Sen of Congress in 1982 and Gobardhan Dingal of Janata Party in 1977.

1951-1972

Prabhanjan Kumar Mandal of CPI(M) won in 1972and 1971.Govardhan Dengal of Bangla Congress won in 1969. T. Mishra of Congress won in 1967.The constituency was not there in 1962and 1957.In independent India’s first election in 1951 Haripada Baguli of KMPP won the Saugar seat.
