Sabyn Mayfield (Born June 16, 1981) is an American film director, writer, producer and musician. He is the son of Emmy Award Winning Casting Director Laray Mayfield and the nephew of legendary country star Dolly Parton.

Early life

Mayfield was born June 16, 1981 in Nashville, Tennessee. As a child, he grew up primarily in Los Angeles, but spent a great deal of time in Nashville as well. His mother Laray began working at Propaganda Films in 1986. As a result, Sabyn was exposed to some of the most influential directors of that time period. He cites many of those directors, especially David Fincher, as a major influence on his life and career.

After graduating high school, Sabyn attended the Los Angeles Film School. He graduated in 2002 with a concentration in Directing and minor in Producing.

Early career

Mayfield began his career after graduating from Los Angeles Film School, working as a PA. His first job was with the production company Headquarters. Shortly after, Mayfield transitioned to working as a Grip. Mayfield became a member of the Local 80 Grip Union in 2006. Shortly thereafter he resigned his membership, seeking other opportunities in the film industry.

Mayfield began working alongside his mother Laray Mayfield in casting. His work as a casting associate includes: Spring Breakers, Palo Alto, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Footloose, and countless commercials. In 2010 Mayfield cast and produced the film AFTER.

As a producer, Mayfield has produced five films, including AFTER, Black Marigolds, And a Bag of Chips, Sisters, and Bound. His feature film debut as a director, Boomtown, which he also wrote and produced, is currently in post-production.

Directing

Mayfield began his professional directing career in 2011. He directed two music videos for Space Capone, "Why You Wanna Say Goodnight?" and "I Just Wanna Dance". He also directed a comedic short, Regulate, an adaptation of the Warren G and Nate Dogg song of the same name. The short was featured on Tosh.0. Mayfield also directed the pilot for a reality series entitled Real MC's and a short film, Tears, starring Michael Madsen, based on Madsen's poem in the book Burning in Paradise.

Mayfield founded production company Stay Fly LLC in January 2012. Stay Fly LLC serves as Multi Media Production Company.

Music Videos

Mayfield's music video credits include videos for The Redneckz, Vanessa Carlton, Space Capone, Olivia Lane, Shannon Magrane, and Julien Baker.

Films

As of 2015, Stay Fly LLC has produced three short films. And a Bag of Chips, (writer/Jannette Sepwa) Sisters, (writer/Vivian Fleming Alvarez) and Bound (writer/Brandon Hirsch). All three were in festival competition in 2014. And a Bag of Chips won the Audience award for Best Florida Production at The Gasparilla International Film Festival in 2014. Mayfield secured domestic and international distribution for all 3 shorts films via ShortsHD.

Stay Fly LLC has two feature films in development: Arthur Darks, and Copenhagen Dreams. Stay Fly LLC’s debut feature film, Boomtown, is currently in Post Production.

Television

Stay Fly LLC has one television show, written and created by Laray Mayfield and Sabyn Mayfield, currently in development. The television show is a semi-autobiographical look at a small-town family living and working in "Hollywood".
