Sri Ramasamy Memorial Polythenic College (SRMPTC) was established in 1996 at Kattankulathur, Kancheepuram District, Tamil Nadu, India. The college was started to provide Diploma Courses in Engineering and is an institution of the SRM Group run by Vallaimmai Society.

The college has been established in 10 acres (40,000 m2) in 68000 square metres built-up area to accommodate the classes, and eight laboratories in 500 square metres in a green environment accessible by road and rail with 63 computers.
The Valliammai Society runs several educational institutions under the S.R.M.(Sri Ramasamy Memorial) Group, named after his father, Thiru.Ramasamy. Thiru.Pachamuthu, the Chairman, S.R.M. Group of Institutions, beginning his career as a teacher, now serves the community as a Chancellor. Thiru. Pachamuthu, Chairman of the Valliammai Society is assisted by Thiru.P.Ravi as the Co-Chairman, Thiru P.Sathyanarayanan as the Vice-Chairman, Dr.R.Shivakumar as the Secretary and Tmt. Easwari Pachamuthu as the Treasurer of the Society,The Valliammai Society began its educational activities in 1969 by starting a Primary School in the name of Florence Nightingale and upgrading the same to the status of Matriculation Higher Secondary School in the year 1981.
In 1984, S.R.M. ventured into higher education with the launch of the Valliammai Polytechnic. The year 1985 saw the birth of the S.R.M. Engineering College.
During 1992-93 the S.R.M. Group ventured into medical education and started S.R.M. College of Nursing and S.R.M. College of Pharmacy . During 1993-94 two more medical institutions namely S.R.M. School of Nursing and S.R.M. College of Physiotherapy were added. During the same year, the group entered into hotel management education. The S.R.M. Institute of Hotel Management was started in 1993, having two campuses, one at Chennai and the other at Tiruchirapalli .
During 1993–94 S.R.M. Arts & Science College was added to the S.R.M. Groups of Institutions. In 1995, the group launched the S.R.M. Dental College with a full-fledged Dental Hospital attached to the College. In 1996 the Valliammai Polytechnic received the much-needed relief with the launch of a sister Institution, the S.R.M. Polytechnic. During 1996-97 Thiru. Pachamuthu opened another Engineering College in the name of his wife and called it as Easwari Engineering College . In the same year S.R.M. College of Occupational Therapy was added to the Group of Medical Educational Institutions. During 1997-98 the group made an entry into North India with the launch of the S.R.M. Institute of Management and Technology in Delhi. In 1999 the Valliammai Society added a third Engineering College in the name of Valliammai Engineering College to the S.R.M. Group of Institutions.
Placement cell
The Department of Placement and Career Guidance works in seeking campus interviews for the students. The department helps improve the students’ communication and interview skills. Students are prepared and trained throughout the year by the training department. Students also undergo special training before each company comes in for recruitment.
