SOA UAVs are Chinese UAVs developed by Qingdao Tianjiao Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Remote Sensing Technology Co., Ltd., (青岛天骄无人机遥感技术有限公司) of the First Institute of Oceanography, SOA of Chinese State Oceanic Administration (SOA). Tianjiao (Tian-Jiao, 天骄) is a classical Chinese name meaning Northern Tribal Ruler, a term in classical Chinese used to describe ancient non-Chinese tribal chieftains of ancient nomadic people to the north of the Great Wall of China. Two UAVs developed by the subsidiaries of SOA have been publicized as of 2013, TJ-1 (Tianjiao-1 or Tian Jiao 1) and SE-1.
