SMK Bukit Mewah

History

Lower Secondary School Loop Road (SMR JL) started construction in 1980 and is completed in 1981. Name of the school was to commemorate the name of the street leading to the school. In the early stages of construction, SMRJL had only two building blocks, namely Block Efficiency and Block Fadilah. There are 13 classrooms, two laboratories, an office and a staff room. It began operations on 4 January 1982. At that time there was only 14 teachers and 310 students . On 11 November 1983, SMRJK was officiated by Dato 'Rais Yatim, Minister of Land cum Acting Minister at the time.

From the year 1984 (until now) there are two school sessions of morning and afternoon sessions. In 1986 the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) has been working SMRJL storey building consisting of four classrooms at Block Harmony. Later in 1990, Block Glorious erected. It is intended to accommodate the growing student body. In the same year the name of Loop Road Primary School has been converted into Loop Road Secondary School (SMK JL).

For their efforts and transformational leadership stature SMKJL, En. Swee Chor Meng, in June 1997 the school again rushed a new history of the construction site and the roof of the hall. Various efforts have been made to fill the hall building fund includes contributions Hon. Dato 'Wong See Wah, Hon. Dato 'Goh Siow Huat, Mr Tan Kin, PTA contributions, donations, and some companies such as school projects Barber Amal Bakti projects, and Jogathon Canteen Day. On 22 March 1999, Dinner in fund raising assembly held and officiated by YB Dato 'Wong See Wah, Deputy Minister of Finance. Under the leadership of Liong Kam Chong, he should feel the school halls built at his own expense given a special name and launched by local personalities. Hence on 6 April 2004, the House of Luxury Series was inaugurated by the Honorable Dato'Utama Haji Mohammad Bin Haji Hasan, Minister of State. In 2005 two computer labs and a hall porch was also built. Next under the leadership of Mr. Piew Kam Wong, Senior Principal SMKBM he has upgraded the infrastructure facilities like boxing arena, library, training centre, parking and implement landscape projects enrich the school. Overall, the school now has 10 blocks with 2453 students and 113 teachers.

The presence of Excellent Principal Mr. Cheah Lef Ngan in April 2012, bringing a thousand hopes SMK Bukit Mewah will be developed further in the future. Various facilities have been refurbished and added comfort throughout the school community. Among the successful projects implemented as soon as he administers is to increase the number of new computer complete internet online for teachers in the Resource Centre. The new-look library will also when many new physical developments made, such as adding new counters, internal modify the Library and many more. Hall is now more comfortable with the installation of new insulation. Jogathon project to collect school development fund was launched recently aims to achieve the expected goals.

Principal Mr Tan Chee Keong, the current principal of SMK Bukit Mewah introduced many changes for the betterment of the school during his stint starting May 2015.

Academic Achievements

In the SPM 2015 examinations, the school successfully produced 33 straight A students, including 2 students who obtained straight A+. Excellent academic results have been recorded in the PT3 2015 examinations, where 12 students obtained straight As.

Co-Curricular Achievements

On the co-curricular front, SMK Bukit Mewah is well known for its success in Track and Field. The school also sends its students to international level Wushu and Taekwondo competitions annually. SMK Bukit Mewah is also known for its excellence in Karate-Do, swimming, water polo, tenpin bowling, ping pong, chess, handball and badminton.

In the NST-RHB Spell-it-Right State challenge 2015, a student won 1st prize and was chosen to represent the state of Negeri Sembilan to the National Challenge, where she emerged as the 2nd prize winner. For the district level English Drama Competition, the school triumphed as the 2nd prize winner. Two of SMK Bukit Mewah students have also excelled in The Queen's Commonwealth Essay Contest, in which they obtained a Gold and Bronze award.

In the District Choir Competition, the school choir team successfully emerged in 3rd place.

Marching Competitions (Kawad Kaki) for the uniform bodies also has a consistent record of victory in district and state levels.

In 2015, SMK Bukit Mewah emerged as the 3rd-place winner in the Asian Young inventors competition and has equal success in the international competition by obtaining the 3rd prize. In the Mighty Minds Challenge 2015, one of the teams was 2nd prize winner for the Upper Secondary category.
