History

Created under the name Store Electronic Systems in 1992, SES-imagotag equipped its first store with electronic shelf labels in 1992. Seven years later, more than one million ESLs were installed. In 2002, SES-imagotag (then Store Electronic Systems) signs its first international contract.

Listed on the Paris stock exchange in 2006, the company keep on expanding its international business with offices in Asia and Latin America as soon as 2007.

In 2012, Thierry Gadou became chairman and CEO of the company. Connected electronic shelf labels (NFC) are installed during the same year.

In 2014, a strategic alliance is signed with imagotag GmbH (Austria).

In 2015, SES-imagotag signs the largest ever contract of the electronic shelf labeling market.

In 2016, the Group signed an exclusive contract with Jysk Nordic, highlighting a rising interest from non-food retailers in the solutions provided by the Group. A trend confirmed by another deal signed with Sephora to equip the cosmetics' retailer french stores.

Findbox and Pervasive Displays Inc. acquisitions

With the clear goal of becoming the global champion of the digital transformation of physical commerce, the Group also acquired two innovative technological companies in 2016: Findbox GmbH and Pervasive Displays Inc.

Findbox was founded in 2012 in Ettenheim (Germany), and is a technology start-up specialized in innovative technologies for retail. The company has developed a leading-edge product-recognition technology that helps consumers to instantly find the desired product in store, while enabling employees to quickly and accurately place products on the shelves.

Founded in 2010, Pervasive Displays Inc. (PDi) is a display design house that develops ultra-low power e-paper displays for industrial applications. The emphasis is on ease of access and use. Engineers look out to create IoT applications to substitute paper through PDi’s paper display platform. Through the concept of “connected paper”, improvements in the process are brought in by Pdi partners. Tangible efficiencies are yielded across industries such as logistics, healthcare and automation. “paper-like” graphic displays in digital shelf labels are adopted by PDi.
