The Sălbăgel River is a tributary of the Spaia River in Romania. The name "Sălbăgel" is said to be named after a boy named Salbatore which means "Savior". The myth has it that the boy saved a horse from drowning in the river. The horse belonged to the Gods. The Gods being pleased by the Salbatore awarded him by naming the river after him. However, the myth is not very well known among the locals however it has been passed down generations.
