Ryan Point (72°18′S 95°51′W) is a bold coastal point in ice-filled Morgan Inlet at the east end of Thurston Island. The point forms the east extremity of the wedge-shaped promontory between Lofgren Peninsula and Tierney Peninsula. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) after A.E. Ryan, Chief Photographer's Mate in the Eastern Group of U.S. Navy Operation Highjump, which obtained aerial photographs of Thurston Island and adjacent coastal areas, 1946-47.
