Early life

Ryan Maness received a PhD from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Career

Maness is a Visiting Fellow in Political Science at Northeastern University. He is the co-author of two books. In Cyber Wars versus Cyber Realities, he argues that the era of cyberwar has been characterized by "restraint". He believes that Russia will not tamper with US voter machines in the 2016 presidential election.

Maness is a member of the American Political Science Association, the Midwest Political Science Association, the International Studies Association and the Cyber Intelligence Network.
