Rumeysa Sultan (Ottoman Turkish: روميسہ سلطان‎, birth name Nadia Frankos, other names Dil-e Friz) was a consort to Ottoman Sehzade Mustafa. She was the mother of Sehzade Mehmed.

Biography

She was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Her mother was a French dressmaker and her father was a Bosnian painter. Her real name was Nadia Frankos. When Nadia was 12 she came in harem. With her beauty and intelligence she managed to attract the attention and became haseki (favourite concubine) of Sehzade Mustafa. In 1547, she gave birth to her first son Sehzade Mehmed. After Mustafa’s death in 1553, Rumeysa with Mahidevran Sultan and Mustafa's children moved to Bursa. At the age of six her son, Sehzade Mehmed got strangled. After her son's death she moved to Izmir and settled there. In Izmir Rumeysa was called Kadinefendi and was highly respected. She died in Izmir.

In the TV series Muhtesem Yuzyil, Rumeysa Sultan is played by a Turkish actress Elif Atakan.
