Ruben Macareno is an American Democratic Party activist who is the founder and president of Latino Democrats of Tulare County and the chairman of the Tulare County Democratic Central Committee. He was also a Democratic congressional candidate who ran for Congress as a write-in candidate in the United States elections, 2010. He currently writes social/political commentaries in Central California. He was previously a newsroom administrator at the Los Angeles Times and writer for the Visalia Times-Delta and Exeter Sun.

Early life
He was born in the Rio Grande Valley region of Texas and raised in the town of Farmersville, California. Farmersville is in Tulare County, which is very much a part of California's agricultural heartland.
Education
He attended the local schools of Farmersville, and he is a graduate of Exeter Union High School, which is located several miles from Farmersville. At this time Farmersville had no high school of its own and it was common for most students to choose to attend Exeter Union High School. He attended California State University, Los Angeles studying Political Science and Los Angeles City College where he earned his Associates of Art degree in Modern Political Studies.
Political activity
He held student leadership positions in his early school years. His first was in the third grade when he was elected Secretary of the J.E. Hester School Honor Guard. He was also student body president at Geo. L. Snowden School in Farmersville his eighth grade year. He later held numerous leadership positions at Exeter Union High School and was elected student body president at Los Angeles City College. Eventually he was elected regional president of the California Student Association of Community Colleges. Politically, he has been very much involved in numerous activities. He has worked for the late Edward R. Roybal in Los Angeles, as a staffer for the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials in Washington, D.C. He is the founder and president of Latino Democrats of Tulare County. In 2010 he ran as an unsuccessful write-in candidate for the United States Congress. In 2012 he was a district delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte. He was elected chairman of the Tulare County Democratic Central Committee in 2013. He has also helped candidates in their efforts to win elections. He was also a 2014 unsuccessful Democratic candidate for District 26 of the California State Assembly.
Personal life
He is married with two children. He has twelve brothers and sisters. He is also the brother of murdered community activist Martin Macareno.
Other activities
He is self-employed and also administers the Martin Macareno Foundation which awards scholarships and grants to organizations that deal with our youths from poorer communities.
