Rubén Darío Insúa (born 1961, in Buenos Aires) is a former Argentine football player and currently works as a manager. The last team he managed was the Colombian team Deportivo Cali. He was its manager approximately since October 2011 to March 4, 2012. He has played for the Argentine national team a number of times. On his player days he won the nickname "el Poeta del Futbol" (the Poet of Football).

Playing career

Insúa played most of his career in the Argentine top league. He also played in Barcelona and Deportivo Cali. He had a spell with Spanish side UD Las Palmas.

Insúa was part of the Independiente team that won the 1988/1989 Primera.

As a player, Insúa was regarded as a swift midfielder with an excellent touch for free kicks. This quality gained him his nickname of "Poeta del Gol" (Poet of the Goal).
Managerial career

Insúa wast the coached for Ecuador's Barcelona to a national title in 1997, and the Copa Libertadores finals in 1998. He also the coach of San Lorenzo de Almagro winning the Copa Sudamericana in 2002.
Insúa coached for Ecuador's Deportivo Quito to a national title in 2009

On October 1, 2010, Insúa reached a verbal agreement with Barcelona's president Eduardo Maruri to return and coach the club that he gave the last national title in 1997. On March 25, 2011, he was fired from Barcelona and replaced with Alex Aguinaga.
