History
Royal Plaza on Scotts first opened in 1974 as the Holiday Inn Hotel Singapore. In 1980, the name was changed to Holiday Inn Singapore. In 1985, it became Royal Holiday Inn Singapore. The name was changed to Royal Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza in 1990. After 7 years, the name was changed to Royal Crowne Plaza. Its current name of Royal Plaza on Scotts was introduced on 1 December 1999.
The hotel has completed several renovations in recent years. From 2006 to 2007, there were major renovations in all of Royal Plaza on Scotts’ rooms. In 2009, all of its suites were renovated. The hotel upgraded its facade in 2014.
