Ronald S. Staffieri is an American executive. His background includes over five years with Waldenbooks / Borders as President, and over seven years as President / CEO with KB Toys and Lil' Things. Ron also served as President of Things Remembered from 1986 to 1990. Prior to 1986, Ron Staffieri held executive positions with Allied Stores and Federated Department Stores. Staffieri was also president of Michael's Stores and the CEO of Rag Shops.

Harold’s Stores

The Harold's Stores Inc. chain of upscale ladies' and men's specialty apparel stores, announced that the Board has appointed Ronald S. Staffieri as Chief Executive Officer, effective October 9, 2006. Staffieri replaced Clark J. Hinkley, who was serving as Interim Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Staffieri was also appointed to the Company's Board of Directors. On November 11, 2008, Staffieri was still Harold's chief executive officer when Harold's Stores Inc began its going-out-of business sales. The chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Nov. 7 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Western District of Oklahoma.

Executive history

  • On March 25, 1986, Staffieri left Joske's, for Things Remembered. At Joske’s, he was the executive vice-president and director of stores at the 27-unit Dallas-based department store chain. He was Joske's third-ranking executive. At the time of his hiring, Cleveland-based Things Remembered had sales of about $100 million.
  • On February 11, 2005, arts and fabric retailer Rag Shops Inc., appointed Staffieri as its CEO. Prior to the appointment, he was president of Michael's Arts and Crafts, and was directly responsible for merchandising, marketing, inventory management, store operations and store planning. On June 26, 2006, Staffieri resigned to pursue personal interests. Mark Syrstad replaced Staffieri at Rag Shops as its new president and CEO.

    Staffieri is one of the Members Emeriti of Adelphi University’s President's Advisory Council. Staffieri graduated from Adelphi University in 1971. He has a wife and five children. The oldest daughter, Kaitlyn Staffieri is a sophomore at Texas Christian University and is pursuing her degree in Psychology.
