History

  • Established in 1330 as Diocese of Ceo, as part of the Venetian Duchy of Naxos, on island territory in the Cyclades with see on the island of Kea
  • Renamed in 1600 as Diocese of Thermia after its new see when the bishopric moved to the island of Kythnos
  • Suppressed in 1650, after the Ottoman conquest
  • In 1933 it would be nominally restored as Titular Episcopal See of Cea
