Rock Hill is a city in St. Louis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 4,635 at the 2010 census.

Geography

Rock Hill is located at 38°36′33″N 90°22′1″W (38.609052, -90.367046).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.09 square miles (2.82 km2), all of it land.

2010 census

As of the census of 2010, there were 4,635 people, 2,064 households, and 1,198 families residing in the city. The population density was 4,252.3 inhabitants per square mile (1,641.8/km2). There were 2,217 housing units at an average density of 2,033.9 per square mile (785.3/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 70.6% White, 23.0% African American, 0.3% Native American, 2.5% Asian, 0.8% from other races, and 2.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.8% of the population.

There were 2,064 households of which 26.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.3% were married couples living together, 11.8% had a female householder with no husband present, 3.9% had a male householder with no wife present, and 42.0% were non-families. 33.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.25 and the average family size was 2.93.

The median age in the city was 36.9 years. 20.7% of residents were under the age of 18; 7.1% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 32.9% were from 25 to 44; 26.8% were from 45 to 64; and 12.6% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 49.0% male and 51.0% female.

    Daniel DiPlacido (born Daniel Jude DiPlacido, 1950) served as the 17th Mayor of Rock Hill, Missouri from April 2010 to May 2014. He previously served as Alderman of Ward 2 in the City of Rock Hill from 2006 to 2008 and 2009 to 2010. DiPlacido was elected Mayor on April 8, 2010 defeating incumbent Julie Morgan. Daniel DiPlacido is the only Italian American ever to have served as Mayor of the City of Rock Hill, Missouri.
