Roberto de Jesús Quiñones Haces is a Cuban independent journalist.

Personal life
Quiñones was born in Cienfuegos (Cuba), on September 20, 1957. He graduated from the University of Havana in 1980. Quiñones is married with two children.
Career
After working as a lawyer, in 1999 he was convicted and forbidden to work as a lawyer. Before beginning to practice journalism, he was a member of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) and collaborated with the official press, authoring reviews of his city's cultural life. His journalistic works are published by the agency Cubanet.
Quiñones is member of the association of independent lawyers Current Agramontista, with whose magazine he collaborates regularly.
Quiñones supported in an article to the oppositor Ángel Santiesteban, condemned to eight years of prison. He supported Pedro Pablo Oliva and the singer Pablo Milanés, who had been attacked by the Cuban official press.
Arrests
At six in the morning on Monday 5 October 2015, a group from the Cuban Home Office burst into Quiñones's house in Guantánamo. The policemen registered the domicile and carried to the reporter detained, without revealing the reasons of the arrest or his final whereabouts.
Poetry
He published the books The escape of the deer (1995, Publishing Orient), Written from the prison (2001, Editions Vitral), The apriscos of the alba (2008, Publishing Orient) and The water of the life (2008, Publisher The sea and the mountain). His works appear in the Anthology of the UNEAC (1994), in the Anthology of the Contest Nósside (2006) and in the selection of the tenth This prison of pure air, of Waldo González (2009).
