Robert Leff co-founded the computer software distribution company Softsel in 1980 and developed this venture into a multibillion-dollar, multi-national computer products distributor now named Merisel. Softsel (originally called Robwin Computing) initially grew out of a distribution company Leff bought from Sierra On-Line co-founder Ken Williams.

Mr. Leff is now a strategic and financial consultant to start-up and growth-stage companies in the personal computer industry. In 1988 Computer Reseller News named Mr. Leff one of the industry's 25 most-influential executives. The company reached the Fortune 500 during the mid-1990s. The company, which he had initially started by going door to door with software under his arm, evolved in a $5 billion company.

He is currently working on the board of directors at Rainmaker.
