Robert John Brennan (born June 7, 1962) is an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church serving as an Auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, New York since 2012.

Early life and education

Robert J. Brennan was born in Bronx, New York. He attended St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School in West Islip, NY. His undergraduate degree in Math was obtained from St. John's University in Queens. He studied for his Masters of Divinity at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington, NY.

Ordination and ministry

Brennan was ordained a priest on May 27, 1989 by Bishop John R. McGann. Fr. Brennan's first assignment was the Church of St. Patrick in Smithtown.

Fr. Brennan was appointed the Bishop's Secretary to replace Msgr. Caldwell. He served in this capacity during the tenures of three Ordinaries; John R. McGann, James Hughes and William F. Murphy. Before his Ordination as Bishop, Msgr. Brennan was the Pastor of St. Mary's in Long Beach.

Auxiliary Bishop of Rockville Centre

Brennan was appointed Titular Bishop of Erdonia and Auxiliary Bishop of Rockville Centre on June 8, 2012 by Benedict XVI. Robert Brennan was consecrated an auxiliary of the diocese on July 25, 2012.
