Biography

Robert Socolow received his bachelor's degree in physics from Harvard College in 1959 and his Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Harvard University in 1964. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society and of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Currently, he is a professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Princeton University where he has served since 1971. Besides research at Princeton University, he also teaches in the School of Engineering and Applied Science and the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. From 1992 to 2002 he was an editor for Annual Review of Energy and the Environment. He also serves on two committees of the National Academies: America's Energy Future and America's Climate Choices.
