Contents

He has written about the 2012 phenomenon since 2000. His website Survive 2012, launched in 2000, was one of the first to discuss a scientific doomsday for 2012.

In September 2009, Bast was interviewed by Playboy magazine for their feature article Apocalypse 2012. On 8 November 2009, he appeared in a National Geographic Channel documentary 2012: Countdown to Armageddon.

Controversial claims

He has claimed that the end of the Mayan Long Count calendar could be a scientific prediction by an ancient culture, citing a solar storm and the return of a comet as possibilities.
