Tmv interview with robb mcdaniels ceo founder of ingrooves part 1

Robb McDaniels is a media and technology entrepreneur, investor and current CEO of Faction Entertainment, a technology-enabled talent management services company based in Los Angeles, CA. Prior to starting Faction in late 2015, McDaniels was the founder & CEO of INgrooves Music Group (parent company "Isolation Network, Inc" ("IN")), which began operations in 2001 as one of the first digital music distribution companies helping artists and labels monetize their music digitally. Today, INgrooves is the largest independently owned music distribution company in the world and manages over 4 million songs for thousands of artists and labels.

In 2008, Universal Music Group (UMG), selected INgrooves to digitally distribute all of their music in North America via its proprietary digital distribution platform. The association with UMG, along with the overall momentum with its independent label clients all over the world, resulted in a 10x increase in transaction volume flowing through the company’s worldwide distribution platform that connects its content partners to a global retail and consumer marketplace.

In 2010, Shamrock Capital Advisors invested in INgrooves, which enabled McDaniels and his team to acquire Fontana Distribution from UMG, adding more than 200 labels to the company’s roster in North America and giving them a strong physical distribution service to offer clients alongside their world-class digital platform. The company also launched an eBook distribution division, INscribe Digital, and currently manages the digital distribution of more than 50,000 books.

In 2014, McDaniels resigned from INgrooves to get back to his entrepreneurial roots and became an advisor to several digital media companies. McDaniels joined Dubai-based media investment company, TechInvest, LLC, as a Partner and assisted in the placement of more than $400m in capital into mid-late stage technology investments in the Bay Area. Towards the latter half of 2015, McDaniels launched Faction to disrupt the field of talent management and provide an alternative solution for this fragmented group of professionals.
