Road Rules: Maximum Velocity Tour is the ninth season of the MTV reality television series Road Rules. It took place mostly in the southern areas of the United States and in South Africa. A casting special aired on June 6, 2000, and the season premiered two weeks later on June 19, 2000.

Memorable Moments

  • This season had a Roadmaster who was announce missions on a video monitor on the cast's Shasta RV. Many missions were around challenging the cast member's fears.
  • The cast has numerous face-off missions against mtv.com fans, O-Town, and the Playboy Extreme Team.
  • This season using unique editing and cinematography, with frequent use of split-screen, interviews overplayed yon top or next to on-site footage, and widescreen formatting.
  • The cast walks a tightrope between two hot-air balloons.
  • The cast steals the robotic dog from The Real World: New Orleans house with the help of Make a Wish Foundation host Sloan Harris.
  • The cast goes to South Africa to participate in a tribal ritual, compete against The Real World: New Orleans, and shark cage dive, among other missions.
  • Trivia

  • The first "game show" themed episode of the series. The cast competed for cash to be added to their pool of money every mission.
  • The episode that found the cast in South Africa was the only episode to ever be nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Reality Program category.
  • Theo has since gone on to a career in comedy. He auditioned for season four of the NBC show, Last Comic Standing, in summer 2006. He made it to the semi-finals, but was not selected as a member of the final cast competing for the title. He did however win a fan voting poll on NBC's website.
