Justin Douglas (born April 5, 1984), better known by his stage name RIFICA, is an American rapper, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Houston, Texas. He was signed to the record label Nu Camp Entertainment in 2002 and released his first album Motivation in 2005. He has collaborated with music artists such as J Riley, Living Epistle, Uncle Earl and Avery Jones who has produced music for 50 Cent, Juvenile, Mr. Marcelo, Papa Reu, Chamillionaire, UTP and Boo Rossini.

Early life

RIFICA was born in Houston, Texas, in 1984, to Dianna and Nathan Douglas. His father was a lead guitarist in the church and his mother was a singer in the church choir. In 1992, at the age of 8, RIFICA moved to Alief, Houston with his father. His parents got divorced in 1989. He completed his schooling from Stephen F. Austin High School in Sugar Land, Texas. He participated in The Ensemble Theater young performers summer program twice, where he performed alongside Solange Knowles in 1996.

RIFICA started writing songs at the early age of 8. In 1995, he met music producer Lab Ox in middle school band, who is known for producing tracks for Roc Nation, 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Yolanda Adams and others. He attended Prairie View A&M University where he served as president of Kappa Kappa Psi band fraternity, Iota Phi Theta social fraternity and the University Symphonic Band. He graduated with a degree in music education.

Career

RIFICA started his career in 2003 by featuring on Disciples of Prophecy album DOP 2K3. He released his first album Motivation in 2005. In the year, 2009, he worked with Aftershock and featured on the album Truth and Lies, the same year, he collaborated with Lab Ox and Captain Jack and released his second album The Standard. In 2012, RIFICA released a mixtape Death Of Me Mixtape hosted by DJ Nonchalant featuring Ozone of The New Cool, Joseph Carr and various other artists. He released his second mixtape, Death of Me Mixtape Volume 2 in 2013, featuring HAM, DJ Sean Blu, Poetic Prophet and others.

In 2015, he collaborated with artists like Living Epistle, Poetic Prophet, Tanika, Virtuous, Versa, Immortal Soldiers, J Riley, Donovan Charles, Uncle Earl, Flash Victorious, J Dab, B Sloan and Avery Jones to produce and release his third album Fresh Manna.
