Rick LeGuerrier is a Canadian journalist, director and an independent film producer. He is one of two founders of Dream Street Pictures, created in 2004 with Timothy M. Hogan.

Career

Rick LeGuerrier claims a lifetime commitment to storytelling, first as an award-winning journalist reporting from Canada, the US and Europe, then as a broadcast executive, and, for the last decade, as an independent producer and partner in Dream Street.

Journalism

As a journalist with CBC, Rick reported from the East Coast, Western Canada, Parliament Hill in Ottawa, and from the United States, Europe and Africa. His work has earned him Atlantic Journalism Awards and the RTNDA Charlie Edwards Award.

Rick was a longtime director of the East Coast Music Association. He served as a member of the copyright committee for the Canadian Media Production Association (CMPA).

Producing

Prior to joining the independent production ranks, Rick was Network Producer for CBC Television in New Brunswick where he wrote and produced FIDDLEHEAD COUNTRY - the first variety music series ever produced in the province by CBC - and several variety specials, including …WHERE THE RIVER MEETS THE SEA. Rick was also instrumental in developing the fledgling New Brunswick film and television industry through his involvement with a unique New Producer’s drama series for CBC. Working closely with various producers, Rick oversaw development and production of five half-hour indigenous dramas, THE SHED NEXT DOOR, PARADISE SIDING, THE DANCE, HORSE SENSE, and 106 FIRE HYDRANTS.

LeGuerrier works include documentary THE ZOO REVOLUTION, now in production for CBC’s Doc Zone, and the television movie, The Phantoms, which was shown on the CBC. He is also executive producer on two documentaries that aired in 2012: SEXT UP KIDS for CBC’s Doc Zone, and, THE GREY LANE for CBC’s digital channel documentary. Prior to this, he produced, wrote and directed the biographical documentary THE MAN THEY CALL REVEEN (documentary). He is executive producer on two seasons of the lifestyle series PLANET LUXURY (Travel + Escape, Discovery HD), also seen in a dozen markets worldwide. His other productions include the movie of the week STICKS & STONES (CTV), winner of the prestigious Shaw Rocket Prize, and Best Foreign Drama at the 2008 International Family Film Festival; the Gemini nominated variety special, BARENAKED EAST COAST MUSIC (CBC); the two time Gemini Award-winning mini-series, Canada Russia '72 (CBC), and the documentaries PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE (CBC), FLYING ON THE MOON (CBC), and, NEUTRAL GROUND (Newsworld), on which he was also writer/director, winner of the Silver Wave Award, as well as a Bronze Plaque at the Columbus International Film Festival.

He produced Wild and Dangerous: The World of Exotic Pets for the CBC in 2015.
