Rick Cochran (born May 15, 1959) is the founder, president and CEO of MMIC (Mobile Medical International Corporation). He was named the 2011 Vermont and National Small Business Administration Person of the Year.

Contents

Mr. Cochran developed the mobile surgery industry with the design and manufacture of U.S. healthcare code compliant Mobile Surgery Units and other "healthcare delivery facilities" in use around the world. MMIC also manufactures rapidly deployable, fully integrated military shelter systems for command, collective protection and general-purpose missions.

Personal life

Cochran was born in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. He attended Brigham Young University, St. Louis University and Lyndon State College where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration & Entrepreneurship.

ASC development

Prior to launching MMIC, Cochran founded a healthcare consulting company, Outpatient Services of America (OSA), specializing in the planning and development of ambulatory surgery facilities. He helped physicians develop cost-effective ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) to address the spiraling costs of healthcare. Through his understanding of ASC development, Cochran focused on design parameters, fire safety concerns, life safety matters, state and federal licensing issues and regulatory concerns. His experience in ASC development provided the foundation for the creation of MMIC.

MMIC

Cochran founded Mobile Medical International Corporation (MMIC) in St. Johnsbury, Vermont in 1994 and has served as the President and CEO ever since. MMIC is the manufacturer and developer of rapidly deployable, fully integrated and self-contained mobile healthcare and military shelter solutions.

The company has grown from a mere concept to encompass two distinctly separate product lines. The commercial product line serves several medical market segments including hospital renovation, rural outreach, disaster readiness and international applications. Cochran’s experience in ASC development allowed him to introduce the first U.S. healthcare code compliant Mobile Surgery Unit (MSU) in the world in 1996.

In the effort to create mobile solutions beyond a solitary product or single market, Mr. Cochran has utilized the MSU platform and performance standards as a flexible solution that has been configured as a laboratory/ pharmacy, intensive care unit, diagnostic and clinical space.

The military product line provides a variety of hard and soft wall shelter solutions for U.S. and international militaries and the homeland security market. Designed for and with the U.S. Military, MMIC’s next generation shelter systems provide today’s agile force with the most advanced technology available.

Cochran has assembled a team consisting of engineering experts and sales and administrative specialists. He has also organized an influential group of board members to provide ongoing expert business advice.
