Richie Lemos (born Feb 7, 1920 in Los Angeles, California, deceased October 18, 2004) was a Mexican-American boxer in the Featherweight division. He was an NBA World Featherweight Champion in 1941.

Professional career

Although Lemos was born in Los Angeles, he was known during his fighting days by the nicknames "Plaza Mexican" and also as the "Mexican Tiger." Both his parents were from Mexico, mother Michaela from Guadalajara, Jalisco and father Feliciano from Michoacán. Only living brother Feliciano Nila Lemos in La Pente Ca.

NBA World Featherweight Championship

In his first attempt Richie won the NBA World Featherweight Championship by upsetting Petey Scalzo by T.K.O. in the seventh round on July 1, 1941.

On November 18, 1941 Lemos lost his Championship by a disputed decision to Jackie Wilson.

Retirement

In 1989 Richie was inducted into the World Boxing Hall of Fame.
