Biography
Richard Malott was born October 3, 1936. He grew up in Converse, Indiana, and received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University in 1958,followed by a Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1963. He began his professional career as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Denison University in 1963. In 1966, he took a position as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Western Michigan University, and was promoted to Professor in 1973.
Professional work
Malott and his colleague Jack Michael at Western Michigan University to apply the principles of behaviorism while working with young autistic children at the Croyden Avenue School. Malott founded the Kalamazoo Autism Center in 2008, and has trained hundreds of undergraduate and graduate students in behavior analysis who have disseminated all over the world to work with children with autism using Applied Behavior Analysis.
