Sport

Richard Lander school has an astro turf, two tennis courts. Every year on sports day pupils compete in different events such as shotput, 100m sprint and a 1,500 m run to score points for their communities.

GCSEs

Students can take one of three routes in Years 10 and 11. The English Baccalaureate, also known as the Red route, enables students to pick from a language, a humanity (excluding RE), and a further two options, in addition to the core subjects. The blue route enables students to pick from a wide variety of subjects, with a mix of GCSEs and BTECs with DT as a compulsory topic. The green route enables students to spend one or two days at the nearby Truro College. English Literature is also compulsory for Middle & Top Sets.

Other GCSE options include ICT, Art, Drama, Physical Education, Religious Education, Media, Music, Geography, History (Social and Economic or Modern World), Engineering (Double GCSE) and Health And Social Care (Double GCSE). Psychology is another subejct that students can study.

School productions

Richard Lander is well known for its dramatic productions. In 2009 West Side Story, 2010 Journeys, a play written by pupils based on plays by Nick Darke, and in 2012 Bugsy Malone.
