Richard Paris (born November 17, 1977) also known by his truncated stage name, Rich Paris, is an American entertainment executive, television producer and the Chief Operating Officer of Starfish Media Group, the integrated entertainment company founded by Soledad O'Brien.

Early life

Paris was born and raised in New York City and is the only child of Martha and Richard Paris. Richard was known locally for shooting and directing "video shorts" and parodies with friends during his teenage years. Several of his first works received awards at local film festivals and were recognized at national competitions. Paris is considered a pioneer in digital media and desktop video, utilizing these emerging platforms beginning in the early 90's, eventually teaching graduate level courses in the medium while still an undergraduate. In 1998, he was named Student of the Year by The National Broadcasting Society (Alpha Epsilon Rho) collegiate honor society.

The ABC Years

Richard Paris began at The ABC Television Network in New York as an intern during his freshman year of college and provided on-air branding and graphic design support for both ABC News and ABC Sports. At age 23, he became the youngest executive at The Walt Disney Company, helping initiate ABC’s first digital/new-media marketing group and was instrumental in growing the business into a successful industry leading franchise. As Director of Special Projects, Richard was responsible for developing and integrating emerging technologies and interactive capabilities into ABC's marketing efforts. In addition to his business development activity, Richard produced and directed high-level presentations for the corporation's senior level executives, board members, sales entities and affiliates. Richard Paris is the recipient of several Gold Muse statuettes from The Promax/BDA organization for his contributions to entertainment marketing.

Populi Records

In 2007, Paris started an independent New York based record company, Populi Records Inc., to create, market and distribute musical content digitally through web based media platforms such as iTunes and Amazon.com. As a prolific musical composer and producer, Richard operates a music rights and licensing subsidiary, Populi Music Publishing, which oversees his broadcast, publishing and performance interests. The word "Populi" is derived from the Latin word "people's."

Fashion Industry Executive

In Fall 2009, Paris was tapped to join the highly respected celebrity fashion label Rebecca Taylor to start and run their new e-commerce division.

Rich Paris And His Orchestra

The music style is of a "re-mix" sound utilizing both traditional orchestral elements and electronic musical technology. Rich Paris And His Orchestra is distributed by Paris' label, Populi Records. The debut album "Until We Meet Again," was released in 2008 to favorable reviews. The cross-over CD is an R&B musical concept album featuring a live 18 piece orchestra and vocal performers which Rich discovered utilizing MySpace and Facebook social utilities. Paris, like many music writers, is represented by ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.)

Personal life

In 2010, became romantically linked with Seattle socialite and New York fine art dealer Kelly Sarah Cross.

Known as the father of the "The Vino Royale" cocktail drink. Described as a quick preparation version of the popular wine based beverage Sangria, "The Vino Royale" is made entirely of commonly stocked bar liquor and beverage items.
