Richard Bosson


Richard C. Bosson is a justice of the New Mexico Supreme Court. He was appointed in 2002. He had served as a judge on the New Mexico Court of Appeals between 1994 and 2002.

Education

Bosson graduated in 1966 from Wesleyan University and received his J.D. in 1969 from Georgetown University Law Center. In 1998 Justice Bosson received a master's degree in Judicial Process from the University of Virginia School of Law.

He is a founding member of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund in Albuquerque from 1970-74. Thereafter, Justice Bosson was with the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office in the Consumer Protection Division and as Director of the Civil Division from 1976-78. Entering private law practice in Santa Fe, Justice Bosson was a Senior Partner of Bosson & Canepa, P.A. in Santa Fe from 1981-94. During his years as a private attorney, Justice Bosson served as Bond Counsel for the State of New Mexico and the City of Santa Fe; New Mexico Commissioner of Banking; and a member of the New Mexico Constitution Revision Commission in 1994-95.

Personal life

Bosson has been married to his wife, Gloria, since 1971 and they have two children, Christopher and Monica.
