History
Andrew Rogoff and Percy Stilwell started prototyping the application in 2009 in Cape Town after years using spreadsheets for resource scheduling. They saw an opportunity the market wasn't satisfying and decided to build their own online resource scheduling tool. The company was founded in May 2011 in London originally employing just two full-time staff members and has since grown to employ over 20 staff. They have received over $1.4 million in funding since 2014 including $870,000 from Index Ventures.
Products
Resource Guru offers an online collaborative application for resource scheduling and planning. Instead of using spreadsheets to manage staff, equipment and other resources they offer a replacement with its cloud-based team scheduling software. Their scheduling software is designed to automate the process of scheduling appointments and staff time. This is ideal for organisations with regular appointments but also for freelancers or consultants who charge their time hourly.
Rather than offering a freemium version, they require all users to buy a subscription after a free trial. Packages range from $2.50 per person per month or more. Companies such as Vodafone, Deloitte, Cisco, Yahoo! and VMware have used the online application.
