René Luckhardt (born 1972) is a Swiss-German artist. Luckhardt holds a Master of Fine Art degree in Painting from Chelsea College of Arts, London. His practice draws from the peculiar and unconscious. He counts Lewis Carroll and Aleister Crowley among his influences. 2010 he reproduced the latter's Chambre des Cauchemars of the Abbey of Thelema in a gallery space. Moreover, he built a life-sized grandmother doll. In 2010 he initiated the international avant-garde salon Wonderloch Kellerland in Berlin of which a satellite existed in Los Angeles. Both spaces are included in the Art Spaces Directory of the New Museum, New York. In 2013 a retrospective of his early Kellerloch Paintings was held in Berlin. Luckhardt frequently uses art history by re-contextualizing various positions and presenting them with a surprising twist. Also, he is co-author of HER.
