Origin
The founder of the company, Vishakha Singh, a marketing and brand-management professional, came up with the idea of Red Polka to help women fulfil their need of window shopping. The company was launched in 2015, raised an angel round of about Rs 1.6 crore from a group of five investors. Red Polka was built to help shoppers discover curated designs in lifestyle and home décor and for sellers to break free from the unnecessary clutter. It helps women fulfil their need for window shopping. Red Polka, focusses on fulfilling a woman shopper’s need to discover new and different things. The website underwent a complete facelift in 14th Jan 2016. The new website which incorporated various new features.
Products and Brands
The company launched with 3 brands and now has over 170 registered brands on the website. These may include niche brands, with artisanal, handcrafted designs or designers. Each registered brand has an exclusive page dedicated to showcasing just their products along with a description of the brand. The products range from high end designer clothes to affordable accessories. This variety includes hand crafted, hand painted and embroidered products. Events
Red Polka began to host fashion exhibitions namely, The Red Polka Show on 24 February 2016. While all the events have taken place in Mumbai, they will soon be coming up in other cities like Chennai, Pune, Bangalore and Delhi. Red Polka also showcases 2-3 brands at the Red Polka Shelf every month for a week in order to provide customers the touch and feel experience.
