Biography
Rebekah Findlay was born and raised in Teesside. She studied violin in Hartlepool from the age of 3 and a half. Regularly playing with Ceilidh band Burning Bridges in her teens and on occasion alongside Ron Angel, of the Teesside Fettlers, as stand in fiddler with the Cleveland Bays.
Findlay stopped playing music for 10 years while she entered the world of work as a graphic designer, she returned to music around 2007 quite by accident, learning the guitar and singing in local folk clubs.
Northern Skies - 2010
Rebekah recorded and released her debut album Northern Skies in February 2010 to great reviews and acclaim. Receiving airplay from Mike Harding on his BBC Radio 2 Folk Show, BBC Radio Leeds with the Durbervilles, BBC Radio Shropshire with Genevieve Tudor and BBC Radio 3 Late Junction to name but a few along with many regional and internet based radio programs. Over the last few years she has supported many great artists including Dave Swarbrick, Martin Carthy and Jez Lowe with and without the Bad Pennies.
Improvising Around the Sun - 2012
In 2012 Findlay released her follow up CD: Improvising Around the Sun. Improvising Around the Sun evolved from the many hours spent sitting in her garden with her dog.
Session Band
Findlay also plays with session band FiddLyn Man Doris. Together they play a range of music from contemporary songwriters, traditional sources and self penned work. FiddLyn Man Doris play at the Hebridean Celtic Festival every year.
