M M Kamrul Hasan (known by his stage name Rawnak Hasan, Bengali: রওনক হাসান) is a Bangladeshi theatre, television and film actor, scriptwriter, director and producer. He has won the Meril Prothom Alo Best Actor Critic Award for the telefilm Ratargul (2014) and the RTV Star Award Best Actor for the television drama Bizli (2014). He also won the Meril Prothom Alo critic award for the television drama Ghor Sawarer Shopno (2005) as debutant.

Theatre

At the age of eighteen Rawnak joined a theatre group called ‘Theatre Art Nattayadol’ in the year of 1995. This was the beginning of his acting career when he realized that real acting is performed in theatres. He debuted in a play called Prohelika but his character had no dialogue. He performed in a number of plays like ‘Court Marshal’, Kallattar, Hingtingchot, and Kaataa as a member of theatre Art Nattayadol till 1999. Next he joined another theatre group called ‘Nattayajon’ where he worked for few months. In the same year he got himself a position in the most renowned theatre group in Bangladesh called ‘Nagarik Nattaya Shampraday’ (NNS). As a member of NNS, he developed into a fine actor under the tutelage of the great Bangladeshi actor - Aly Zaker. Rawnak performed in a number of plays produced by NNS like Nuruldiner Sharajibon, Dewan Gajir Kissa, Kopeniker Captain, Achalatayan, Chayanot, Nattayatroyi, Roktokorobi, Kalshondha, and Kathalbagan and proved himself as one of the best contemporary theatre actors.

Television

Rawnak made his first television appearance in a drama serial called Kagojer Phool where he had little to offer to the viewers. In the next few television shows, he played some supporting roles but soon realized he was not enjoying the characters he was playing. He stalled acting in TV shows and started writing screenplays instead. In 2004 his first written screenplay for a drama serial Boyosh Jokhon Ekush, was premiered. The show made him popular as a scriptwriter. Since then, he wrote scripts like Ekusher por, Choukidar, Kotha Chilo Onnorokom, Tithi Abong, Sob Kichu Venge Pore, Ayeje Bhai Shunchen, Dhulo Ora Din, Chile Kothar Shopno, Rochi Momo Falguni, Bajii, Jal, Shada Kalo, Ami Tumi Tumi Ami, Contrast and many more. He debuted as a director in 2004 by directing a television drama called Tomatei. He got his breakthrough in a television drama Ghor Sawarer Shopno (2005) where he played the protagonist and his brilliant performance earned him his first television award for the best actor debutant. This early achievement opened doors for Rawnak to portray his talent as the leading characters in television dramas like Ghure Daranor Shopno, Kacher Manush, Megh Boleche Jabo Jabo, Labonno Probha, Eir Kather Kacha, Aim in Life, Late Latif, Tula Rashi, 73 Number, Nil Nirjone, Mamuli Ekta Manush, Chaita Pagol, Joyeeta, Amader Choto Nodi, Amader Golpo, Sakin Sarisuri, Kobuliotnama, Otithi, School of Politics, Ratan, Hoimonti,Shubho Drishti, Robibar, Rochi Momo Falguni, Vasha Andoloner Prothom Shogrami, Chaya Brikkher Rajkonna, Ratragul, Gogon Aaj Deshe Firbe, Oshonglogno, Chor O Churi, Kumar Nil Angti, Bibaho Bibhrat, Eider Natok, Bizli, Bhasha Andoloner Prothom Shonglaap, Naoshal and many more. Rawnak has proven himself as a potential actor by portraying every role he plays with great acting skills and established himself as one of the best current actors in Bangladesh.
