Ratnam V. Raja Kumar is the director of the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar. He has served as the first vice-chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies.

Personal life

Raja Kumar was born in Machilipatnam, India. He received his BE degree from Andhra University, and his M.Tech. and Ph.D. in electronics and communication engineering in 1982 and 1987, respectively, from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.

Research

Raja Kumar has made several research contributions in the areas of communications systems, signal processing, sonar, radar, cognitive radio, green radio, and processors for communication systems, and helped in technology development projects of the Defence Research and Development Organisation. The quality of technical education is also of his concern, he made contributions in the same and served on the boards of several institutions and organizations.
