For his business and entrepreneurship, Sharma-Guwahati received the Rashtriya Gaurav Udyog Ratan Award from the Indian International Council for Industries and Trade in March 2009.
Career
Sharma-Guwahati is managing director and chairman of Satyaratan Group. He began as a scrap trader and has since established manufacturing units in Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh. The first of these ventures was founded in 1994 when he set up a small rolling mill in Assam.
Sharma-Guwahati is also managing director of Satyam Ispat (North East) Limited. a steel plant in Banderdewa, Arunachal Pradesh, that manufactures mild steel billets, TMT bars and rods.
